St. Remedius Radio: “The Best of Times, The End of Times”

Celebrating What Would Have Been The End of The St. Remedius School Year

(Who was St. Remedius? And why is a medical college named after him?)

At any other time, the end of May would have marked the end of the school year at St. Remedius Medical College. Graduation ceremonies, dorm cleanouts, promises to stay in touch, and offers to hang out over the summer. This being St. Remedius, many of the students stayed on campus or at research facilities to continue essential work, but plenty of others went home or elsewhere, including to organ graft clinics, psychiatric hospitals, and certain henges and standing stones in isolated places. Some just needed a break from the impending Texas summer, thereby making research trips to Tierra del Fuego, the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa, and the South Alps of New Zealand particularly appreciated.

Not that the work ever let up: new students needed processing, syllabi needed updating, lab animals needed feeding, and the traverse gate underneath the Student Union needed careful tending so travelers only went out instead of coming in. Even so, the last week or partial week of May was always special to both graduates and underclassmen, and whether the physical and mental scars faded, the memories always remained strong. The staff of St. Remedius Radio wants to thank its listeners for the previous school year of requests, tributes, and eulogies put out onto the integral airwaves, and get ready for more music all summer long. The summer may stop, but it never really ends.

And while you’re at it, the request lines are now open, complete with playlist.
